History Repeats Itself

june 25, 1983
sometime after 23 00 hours

He was just finishing up his works at the college and being his final year in the bachelors, he was taking a stroll to his mansion with his friends. This day was extra special as the underdogs, the Indian team takes on the mighty West Indies in the Third Prudential World Cup final and he was to see the match with his friends on a very questionable Television set on the reception hall of the place he was staying. The match ended and the Indian team emerged victorious, he went on rides through the empty roads of the city, celebrating the victory with his friends.

He was getting ready to go to this friend's place. All his friends were supposed to show up to see the grand finale of the tenth World Cup between two formidable sides, the Indians and the Lankans. It was the final year of his bachelors and the fact that this match would be the last which he will be witnessing with his college friends never left his mind. The match was witnessed completely with uninterrupted power supply, thanks to the TNEB. The Indians won it after 28 long years. He celebrated in his own way and took a drive with his friends through the city with his friends.

In the first half "he" refers to my dad and in the second half, "He" refers me.

Right from when I was little, my dad his own version of the World Cup winning moments and what happened and I never get tired of listening to it. His story always made me wonder what it would be like if I went through something same and never did I know, I will go through something exactly the  same.

Shriram Narayan

Sriram, Sriram kumar, Srirama Chandramoorthi, Sriraaman are the familiar ones around but why Shriram Narayan dad, why why why..was what I was asking my father when I was studying 12th. I am the only one with this name in the whole of tamil nadu in my age(which I found when I was looking for my results over the internet). So my dad sat me down and explained the factors that influenced the choosing of this name.

Sept 28 1989 19 00 hours

My mother went into labor. When she was on her way, she held my dad's hand and my dad felt as if she was going to say something romantic or important, but she said "Make sure I get a pista ice cream as soon as my belly goes bake to the size it should be" and my dad was "??!!!". Two feet away in stretcher, mom again yelled "Yo Mr Husband, listen I gotta an idea of naming our son Shriram, so you better don't get ideas of naming the baby yourself..get it..got it? good" and she was off. On hearing this Dad was reminded of an incident that took place 3 nights back.

Sept 25 1989 21 00 hours

My grandfather and father were in a conversation. "I wanna name my grandson Narayan" and before my dad could say anything "So its a deal then" and went off to bed, leaving dad "Dai yen paiyanuku naan per vaika koodatha??".

Present situation

So mom went in and "reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee", a sound came out of the room into which my mom went. It seems the doctor saw herself in a mirror and got frightened. Then in 10 minutes, it was my mom's turn to scream and there was I, entering the world not knowing what the hell is going around(kind of like the same situation, I am in right now).

So the time had come to name me and my dad, not wanting to hurt the feelings of his wife and dad joined the names which were suggested and thus emerged "Shriram Narayan".

PS my parents were gonna name me Alamelu if I had been a girl baby...!!! Nalla Vela :D

The Hunter

It was just another day and at 12 midday, the temperature couldn't be hotter and there was I, on a call with my mom for just 5 mins and I couldn't stand the heat. 9 hours later, the rain God felt pity on us and it was pouring like hell, so I ran to pick up my clothes. When I was returning, there he was standing majestic, not caring about anyone or anything. He was.... The Hunter.

Alright, this post is about my bike aka The Hunter. I am a guy and so I am obviously addicted to bikes. I must say, I am one of those lucky lads to get a motorbike during school days itself. It was during my 11th during which I learnt that I was going to get a bike and true to his word, my dad brought home the bike he got for me - Platina.

To write on how he looks, its a plain and a typical bike. He does not sport a racy look, not so macho like other ones which are huge just to push nowadays and is definitely not a catch among the ladies, but he is very special to me and makes me feel comfort and safe whenever I ride him.

So whenever I am on my bike I feel good, safe and always in control. I sense a weird connection with my bike and I actually think he understand me. The thing about him is that he has been with me and has seen almost everything I have come across. It is like he is like my best friend who is always silent.

He aint afraid of the rain and heat and all he needs is just a kick and he is away like a storm. Just like me, he is not much into the looks and so I never clean it which actually adds up to his rugged and "Hunter" look. He never screws me up in the middle of the ride. The crazy feeling we share is mutually exclusive and call me crazy but I always get the feeling that he has got my back always.

I never will give him up for any other bike because , Bikes may come and bikes may go...But my Hunter stays with me forever...

*I have referred my bike as "He/Him" coz he is more than just a bike to me.

The Way We Look @ Things Defines Us

20 years into my life, I have succumbed to many of the traditions and elders ways of going about things...Its time to break the shackles and tell the world what I actually think....

Hard work is the sole mantra of success??? Almost every one in this world would say its true, but I beg to differ. Passion is a bigger and easier way to get to where we want bcoz once we start enjoying what we actually do, work won't seem so hard, will it?? and so the term "Hard Work" will cease to exist. Love what you do and get everything you want, it doesn't require busting the ass around the clock but sheer interest will take you places.

Laziness is a handicap?? Really?? A lazy guy is not some one who ignores things but takes a lot of free time but somehow manages to finish the job in time, to be frank lazy guys are smarter as they always have a smarter and easier way to finish the job. So.... Be lazy, enjoy the life and outsmart others always :)

Cant we have everything we desire for?? Should we always give up something to get another?? I say this is bullshit...If the human heart has the strength to have a liking for something, then it ll surely be backed up by the required physique to get it...Trust me, that is how the Big Guy designed us ;) provided the desire must be realistic :P

@ppl who took time read this.....
These might make you think I sound cocky, arrogant, stupid etc....But I don't give a damn Bcoz this is who I am and Who I always be...

It Just takes to be a Monkey to Trap Fazil

I was on my way with Fazil to the Satellite canteen and we were about to leave the main building. We saw a couple of girls there and let me name them Samosa and Puffs ( to avoid controversy true names of the girls are not portrayed). So samosa was sitting and eating something and Puffs was near her.

Fazil turns into a hero

So we a see a monkey going towards samosa and I told Fazil that it was going for the thing that samosa was holding in her hand. Puffs, who was near samosa did not seem to bother much by the monkey but Fazil suddenly for an instant turns into a hero and shouts out "Hey monkey monkey!!!!" in an attempt to save samosa.

Monkey Gives Bulb to Fazil

Actually it seemed the monkey was going in all different direction which was very obvious by the reactions of puffs and Fazil the "saviour" did not know as he was attempting a hero act. Trust me, if the monkey had really gone for her , I might have seen him flying like Rajnikant in Chandramuki shouting " Samosaaaa un pinadi monkeeeeey ". But thanks to God, the monkey did not and so Fazil ended up getting a big bulb.

Mithun Makes an Unexpected Appearance

After the entire thing was over and me getting to see the "hero" in Fazil for an instant there, we turn and there stands Mithun in a very intriguing pose and Fazil was busted once again, thanks to the monkey. Mithun joined me in teasing the crap out of Fazil.

It was one of those of days where you get to see the criminal getting caught red handed in front of all and this was very special. This event gave rise to same old famous, mysterious and unanswered question....

"Bhai nallavana kettavana???"

Ganesh Storms out of Teens in Style

It took 7 guys and a girl to architect Ganesh's birthday party. The following is what we went through before making a memorable Birthday for Mr Duck.

Date : 10 JAN - "Dai Ganesh Birthdayku ena da panna porom???"

We start planning for the birthday. We wanted to throw a surprise and as every trick form our book were already put in action, we dint know where to start.

Date : 13 JAN - Gobikaa joins us

After 3 days of planning nothing, we thought we finally are now going to really make a good progress when Gobikaa joined us as we thought she would give us lots of information and she would already have a plan by now. To our surprise, she was making things worse. She was asking us to make it a really big event. But as things unfolded, she was one of the main reasons behind the success of our plan.

Date : 14 JAN - We move away

As it was festival time, we guys could not be together to plan the thing and that came in as a huge blow. Every one of us were really busy and we had only two days to plan the entire thing out and we were not doing anything useful.

Date : 15 JAN - Efforts go in vain

So on 15th we finally started planning the thing seriously with lots of phone calls flying around the city and messages were sent to guys more than to girls by us!!!! Still on the day's end we still were no where.

Date : 16 JAN - A Plan - Fiiiiiiiiiinally

We came up with a couple of plans and finalised one. Although we liked it, we had a small feeling that something better can be done. Finally at dusk we came with a plan that was better than the previous and decided to stick with it.As usual we made the Traditional conference phone call by 12 in the night to wish him.

Date : 17 JAN - The MainEvent

Cast :(in alphabetical order) Gowthaman, Mithun, Gobikaa, Rajkumar, Rajesh, Ravi, Shriram, Sikkandar, Zeeshan.

Part - I

Venue : Ganesh's Home

Plan : Throw the worst surprise party ever!!!

So we planned the first part to throw a bad surprise party at Ganesh's home. We asked his bro to take him out so we could sneak in and hide before he comes. But Ganesh was in no mood to get out of the home so we decided to sneak in to his home even when he is in. We were very excited and we were moving like soldiers hiding from the enemy and initially we entered the wrong street and were going somewhere else. Then compensating for the every unexpected mistakes we made, we went in and to our surprise we threw one real sucking surprise party. We did not act. We were just being ourselves and the party was going really bad(Ganesh's reactions showed this). We had executed the first part well.

Part - II

Venue - Tiruparankundram Park

Plan - To Prove that Amigos can pull off any kind of Birthday Party!!!

The plan was to make Ganesh come to park and take him off guard completely. So he arrived to the trap we set with Gobikaa and the plan was set in motion. Guys joined them from all around the park one by one and I must say that he was really surprised to see us. He was asked to complete 3 tasks to get his final 3 gifts

  • Propose to a Tree
  • Fall in the legs of the tree to which he just proposed
  • Speak out his trademark dialogue before everyone once more
He did everything to perfection and got his final gifts. The event was made more entertaining with a special message from Mani Sundar that made everyone get some interesting stories of Ganesh before March 18th and it was really fun to see Fazil taking Ganesh down and hard once. Fazil was doing some good revenge work.

The day was made a great one and all of us enjoyed the whole day thoroughly and it was extra special because the always "busy" Rajkumar was with us the whole day.

KKR - Down but not Dead !!!

Two editions of Indian Premier League has passed us and the third is set to start in India from March 12. Kolkata Knight Riders has an impressive squad Akhtar, Gayle, Mendis, Ponting, McCullum and the skipper Sourav made the outfit look formidable. but this team faced absolutely nothing but defeats in the 1st 2 editions.

IPL 3

Back in India, IPL 3 kicks off form mid march and the KKR squad was the first team to start the practise. Wasim Akram was brought from Pakistan to give special insights and expert opinions on team's performance and the new coach Dav Whatmore have made the camp positive and are jelling with the team well.

Bond in, Ponting out

"KKR Bonds with Pace" read the newspapers after the IPL 3 auction was over. The Kiwi pacer was bought for a huge sum of money to share the new ball with Ishant Sharma. KKR also terminated its contract with the Aussie skipper who has announced that he wont be available for IPL 3 so as to make room for an extra player.

Bengal Tiger returns to the Rightful Throne

SRK re instates Saurav as KKR's skipper and there was no one better for such a job and such a situation in the whole country. Saurav took our national side form no where to beating the top teams in the world consistently and this situation is tailor made for him to show the world that he still is one of the best captains India has ever had.

Will KKR break the Jinx???

With the new captain, new coach, addition of one of the world's fastest bowlers and the biggest factor of being able to play in front of the home crowd rejuvenate the riders and make the other teams look ridiculously short in talent???

Waiting to see The Knight Riders rise from the ashes and take a successful ride through the nation. Even though I am near Chennai, I ll always " CHEER FOR KOLKATA, BE A KNIGHT RIDER "

Mithun "Mr Ephemeral" Ganesh

Ephemeral is a intra-departmental culturals hosted by EEE in TCE. Mithun in III EEE A aka AGNISIRARS was seen working his hearts out for the event even two weeks prior to the grand event. The only words that came out of his mouth were that he was practising, practising and practising. We thought he was over exaggerating and putting in too much of efforts that the event actually demanded.

He was working day and night for his class' sake. He was almost in every event that was in the list and was his class' biggest hope. He had to face the responsibility of not making a complete fool out of himself and give a good show because a "special" person was supposed to be present to see Mithun perform.

Will he pull it off??

The day was 10th Jan. it was the day, Mithun had one whole day to show everyone what he is made of. In his favour his class was in a comfortable position after the Off stage events the previous day. Every move he made, worked to perfection. Every event he participated had his name as one of the winners. Mithun was in business. Eventhough the much anticipated "zoo zoo" dance did not click, Mithun was way ahead in performing better than anyone present there. He was doing some serious kick ass performance.

Then finally, the time arrived to announce this years Mr Ephemeral, the most coveted prize every guy in EEE department dreams off. The name was called and auditorium erupted, Mithun was choosen as the winner. Was it destiny?? Was it Fate?? Was it sheer luck?? People witnessed the show had a completely different answer, they said it was sheer "Talent". The King has arrived and took his class to victory and Agnisirars emerged champs.

Mithun rose to the pinnacle and took his class with him.

Fazil Busted on his Birthday

Where do I start??? Hmm..Here it goes

The final plan was finalised just seconds before the clock hit 00:00 hrs on 4th jan. The plan was panned out for the entire day with traps set for Fazil the entire day and guess what, He fell for every trap we set and i was extra happy because I got to see his way of "finding the clues" very near.

The Plan:
Organize a Treasure Hunt as if hosted by girls and see how he reacts when we said his destiny is waiting in the pump house with the birthday gift.

Cast:

Shriram, Mithun, Surya, Gowthaman, Ganesh, Zeeshan, Rajesh, Shobana, Virasundari and Sitalakshmi(Guest Appearance)

The Show:

So it began by morning by 7 30 and he was sent the rules. The game began with the 1st clue by 9 and it went well till the last one and he "successfully" completed the entire task. He was supposed to meet his "destiny" by 4 30 to get his gift, when he came with all the hopes of meeting the girl of his dream, came out were 7 guys and Fazil was in total shock. Finally everything fell in places for him and he finally figured that the whole thing was done by 6 of his best friends(guys). Birthday cake was cut and the gift was given.

Fazil's Classic Comedies:
  • Not telling Mithun that "girls" have planned a thing for him when he met morning.
  • Thinking Gowthaman is the answer for every question.
  • Not remembering anything about what guys said in the past.
  • Thinking once that he is the answer.
  • Trying to escape after being caught red handed.

P.S. We made him to roam the entire street looking for us by calling him up in conference call and telling we are standing outside with the cake.
