Dam Dam Dam - Bak Bak Bak

Raavanan, one of the most anticipated movies of this calendar year and one from Mani Ratnam, an ace film director turns out to be a major disappointment. The story line is vague, the whole movie has been shot in a gloomy, rainy and dark terrain, although gives a Mani Ratnam feel, yet falls short of fulfilling all the hype that surrounded the movie.

I actually read a couple of reviews prior to going to the movie and heard many different reactions from my friends who caught the flick before me and wanted to see the movie on my own anyways.

Following is what I noticed through the 160 odd minutes of the movie.

1. I honestly felt that Karthik could have been used better, the flick is a modern day adaptation of the old Ramayana and making him fly through his intro scene is enough to make us understand he plays Hanuman's role. But why make him fly through the entire movie?

2. Dialogue makes you spellbound
               Vikram : dum dum dum
                Aish : bak bak bak
where do these guys get to write dialogues like these :)

3. I don't get to see any magic with camera too. A lot of slow motion scenes, frequently bending Aish, Rain, darkness dominates the movie and its just sad.

4. The song "Kattu Sirikki" (one of my favorites from the audios) is a shocker. It was like Priyamani sang the song while she was shooting for the climax scene for Paruthiveeran. If you listen carefully, the tone of "Valikuthu da Veera" in Paruthiveeran and Kattu Sirriki have a striking similarity.

5. Ranjitha steals the show. No dialogue, just a few steps in a song, couple of scenes and she gets the biggest applause and whistles. Yellam Nithyananda Swamigalin aasirvaadam :)

6. The highly speculated "six packs" from Prithviraj which he developed for the movie misses to make an appearance.

7. Movie with guys is not bad after all (got a free pepsi and samosa)

8. It cannot be said as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was at the best of her physical beauty, yet it was hard to ignore her. She was oooooook. Her green eyes were pretty.

9. ARR's music is the only good thing about the sad and confusing tale. From the Big Cinema Production name card to the end credits, his work was neat.

10. The climax is predictable but there was something missing between Vikram and Aish. Wonder the chemistry would have been better in the hindi version where the real life couple share the screen.

11. The couple that busted me in VTV made an appearance. Courageous of the guy to take his girl amidst all his college mates and was fun to see him, forced to see us in all the corners of the theater when he wanted to avoid us the most. :)

12.In the Kalvare song, you will get to see Aish teaching dance to kids and each one will be dancing his/her own style and own direction, now what kind of a class is that ? :P

Bottomline : Movie sucks, attend to a better job, if you have any.
